Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has openly invited Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), promising him full support from party members in the state.
Kalu made the call on Monday during a town hall meeting and food distribution exercise at his country home in Bende, Abia State. He said Governor Otti’s public support for President Bola Tinubu would be more impactful if he formally aligns with the ruling party.
According to Kalu, meaningful backing for the Tinubu administration must come from within the APC, stressing that the President would prioritise party loyalists. He dismissed the idea of APC working closely with non-members, insisting political alignment matters.
The Deputy Speaker also denied declaring interest in the 2027 Abia governorship race, stating he is still consulting and awaiting guidance from the party’s national leadership. He further accused political opponents of sponsoring social media attacks to misrepresent his empowerment initiatives.
