Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South, Victor Giadom, has declared that while former President Goodluck Jonathan is free to contest the 2027 presidential election, he will not enjoy the support of political leaders in the South-South.
Speaking in Bere, Gokana LGA of Rivers State after the recent local government elections, Giadom said South-South leaders have already resolved to back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing his administration’s visible developmental projects in the region.
According to him, key infrastructure projects abandoned for decades — including the East-West Road’s Eleme section and the Bodo-Bonny Road (now 90% completed) — are evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to the region.
“Former President Jonathan is free to join the presidential race, but our decision is to support President Tinubu in 2027,” Giadom stated.
He described the South-South as “fertile ground” for the APC, dismissing the ADC coalition as irrelevant in the zone, stressing that with nearly all governors now in the APC, the 2027 election will be a walkover for Tinubu.
On the Rivers State elections, Giadom commended the RSIEC for conducting a peaceful process, while newly elected APC Chairman of Gokana LGA, Hon. Confidence Deko, praised voters’ turnout and thanked President Tinubu for his support for the Ogoni people.
