The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has disclosed that more state governors and key political figures are preparing to join the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda made this revelation on Tuesday during the APC Bayelsa State chapter’s 12th expanded stakeholders’ meeting and endorsement rally for President Bola Tinubu in Yenagoa.
Speaking through the APC Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, Yilwatda credited President Tinubu’s performance and integrity as the driving force behind the defections.
“Our doors are still open. More governors are still moving into our party, more personalities, senators, and members of the House of Representatives because of the caliber, integrity, and the output of the person we make president,” he said.
He further dismissed opposition parties as inconsequential, drawing an analogy:
“Other people who are running around trying to challenge the president in the 2027 election… but of course you know, when you have a lion and other small animals are barking, the lion doesn’t even take notice of them. He goes about his duties properly, and that is what the president is doing.”
The APC chairman also commended the South-South region for rallying behind the party, noting that leaders who once belonged to opposition parties have now recognized Tinubu’s leadership qualities and aligned with APC to secure an overwhelming victory in 2027.
“They are leaving their parties to come to APC to support Mr. President in 2027 to record an overwhelming victory,” Yilwatda added.
