A major northern political support group, the Tinubu Vanguard, has announced the withdrawal of its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. The group, drawn from 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, also declared an indefinite suspension of its political activities.
Speaking at a review meeting, the group’s Director-General, Hon. Kamilu Abdullahi Abubakar Maiganji, said members had “dropped the broom,” signalling a clear break from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He stressed that the group has not aligned with any other party, insisting it would only support a platform committed to dignity, accountability and development.
Maiganji recalled that the Tinubu Vanguard played a critical role in mobilising grassroots support during the 2023 elections through extensive media campaigns across Kano State and other northern regions.
