2027: APC Chair Dismisses Rumours of Replacing Shettima

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has firmly denied claims that he has been chosen to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the 2027 election.

Speaking on Channels Television, Yilwatda described the reports as false and unnecessary speculation, stressing that the APC has no plan to drop Shettima. According to him, discussions about a presidential ticket are premature and can only happen after party primaries.

He blamed the rumours on opposition elements, saying they are “raising dust where there is no dust.” Yilwatda added that no one within the party is currently debating the vice-presidential position.

On the Rivers State political tension, the APC chairman said the feud between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former governor Nyesom Wike is not within his jurisdiction. He explained that Wike belongs to the PDP, while Fubara is an APC governor.

However, Yilwatda noted that the impeachment moves involving APC lawmakers in the Rivers State House of Assembly remain an internal party matter, which the APC has mechanisms to resolve discreetly.
