Former Sokoto State Governor and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, has dismissed claims that there was an agreement for Nyesom Wike to become his vice-presidential running mate during the 2019 PDP primaries.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, Tambuwal stated clearly that no such pact existed between him and the current FCT Minister. He explained that although Wike supported his presidential ambition at the time, the Rivers State politician never demanded or requested the vice-presidential slot.
Tambuwal stressed that Wike placed no conditions on his support and acted purely on belief in his capacity and leadership qualities. According to him, the partnership was built on shared conviction rather than political bargaining.
He added that suggestions of opportunism or manipulation were false, insisting that fairness required him to set the record straight. Tambuwal said Wike’s backing was based on trust in his ability, not personal political gain.
